Prior to opening his own law practice, Slade Neighbors was senior Workers' Compensation counsel at the nation's largest management, labor and employment law firm. Mr. Neighbors has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Russian and East European Studies and in History from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. He also has a Master of Arts Degree in Theology with Highest Honors from Talbot School of Theology and is a member of the Talbot Scholastic Honor Society. Mr. Neighbors has a Juris Doctorate Degree With Honors from Whittier College School of Law where he was Articles Editor of Whittier Law Review. Mr. Neighbors is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, San Fernando Valley Bar Association, San Francisco Bar Association, California Workers' Compensation Defense Attorneys' Association, American Bar Association, Medicare Advocacy Recovery Coalition (MARC) and the National Alliance of Medicare Set Aside Professionals (NAMSAP). He is also a member of the Workers' Compensation section, Labor & Employment Law section and Law Practice Management section of the State Bar of California. Mr. Neighbors is admitted to practice before all of the United States Courts for the Ninth Circuit. Slade Neighbors is recognized as an expert on California Workers' Compensation Law and associated Labor Law matters. He has successfully represented clients throughout California before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, California Courts of Appeal and California Supreme Court. He has extensive experience defending both public and private sector employers in Workers' Compensation matters and discrimination claims. He is also familiar with the crossover issues that arise between Workers' Compensation Laws and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). Mr. Neighbors works closely with employers on workers' compensation and labor law issues including discrimination claims, written policy, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Leave Act, union issues, collective bargaining agreements and employee terminations. He has assisted the California Department of Insurance and the District Attorney's office in preparing evidence to prosecute criminal workers' compensation fraud. This has included appearing in Criminal Court to obtain restitution orders on behalf of employers. In addition to his expertise in workers' compensation law, Mr. Neighbors has also been certified as an expert on Medicare Set Aside issues. He is one of the few attorneys in California that is both a Medicare Set Aside Certified Consultant (CMSP) and a Certified Medicare Secondary Payer Professional (MSCC). Thus, he has the same expert certifications held by the Medicare Set Aside professionals who work for companies that specialize in compliance issues with the Medicare Secondary Payer Act. In his spare time, Slade Neighbors enjoys spending time in the outdoors, making feeble attempts to play the guitar, flyfishing the big rivers and lakes of the western states of America, sightseeing, museums, Disneyland when not crowded (which is almost never these days) and reading.
